Safety

At Awesome Africa and Beyond, ensuring your safety is our utmost priority. We take great pride in offering exceptional care and assistance to our valued guests throughout their journey. From the moment you arrive, our dedicated team will meet you at the plane and provide support during passport control. We will handle your luggage and accompany you to your private vehicle, ensuring a seamless experience. Rest assured, Awesome Africa and Beyond meticulously inspects and approves all destinations and venues, guaranteeing your safety and peace of mind. We are pleased to share that over our 15 years of operation, we have maintained an impeccable safety record, a testament to our vigilant approach.

Nevertheless, when traveling, it is advisable to exercise common-sense precautions. Pickpocketing can occur worldwide. Therefore, we kindly remind our guests to remain vigilant when visiting shops and crowded areas. It is recommended to leave valuable fine jewellery at home and to avoid leaving cash or jewellery unattended in city hotels and bush properties. For your convenience, every lodge or hotel provides safe deposit facilities to ensure the security of your valuables.

Visa

Please contact your travel agent directly to enquire about up-to-date visa requirements. We host guests from around the world. Visa requirements can differ widely. Travel agents are best placed to advise on the latest requirements.

Travel Insurance

Purchasing travel insurance is strongly advised. It is important to note that certain optional policies, such as cancel for any reason, cancel for work reasons, and pre-existing condition waiver, are only valid if the policy is purchased within 14 days of the initial payment for your trip.

Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi is widely available at our destinations. The team are always available to address any questions regarding Wi-Fi availability.  Your detailed itinerary will highlight the availability of Wi-Fi on your selected trip.

Vaccinations

Safari camps in Southern Africa are sometimes located in malaria areas. The team is always available to address any questions regarding vaccinations and work with your travel agent to ensure you are covered. Your detailed itinerary will highlight your vaccination requirements.

Travelling with Cash/Credit Cards

Credit Cards are widely accepted in South Africa. Guests are encouraged to limit the amount of cash they carry to ‘walking around’ money. If your trip requires cash at any time, your detailed itinerary will highlight this.

Luggage

Your travel agent will advise you on luggage limitations on your selected airline. It is standard practice on our hosted trips for the logistics team to take care of your luggage and have it collected and delivered securely to your room. There are limitations when on safari. Typically, one bag weighing no more than 20 kilograms is permitted. Your detailed itinerary will highlight luggage requirements for your trip.

Gratuities

There is a strong tipping culture in Southern Africa. Paying a 10-15% gratuity when dining out is typical. The tipping of hosts, drivers and guides is at your discretion and rates vary depending on location. Your detailed itinerary will provide further details.
